A Perfect Summer day in Victoria by the Sea

                                                   Hello everyone,
Well another week has slipped away but I did enjoy some of my favorite summer places on the Island this week. As some of you may remember one of them is the charming
little village  - Victoria by the Sea. So come along and enjoy the sights!
The lighthouse is open for visitors and has had many photos taken of it.
Love watching sailboats and kayaks out on the water as we sit and enjoy
                        breakfast or lunch.

                          A little garden guest house.
                                          I love this summer house.

                                                         colorful!

                                        Beautiful hanging baskets!
                                  Pretty chair outside a lovely little shop-Emment & Ellie's.

Love the patina on this picket fence.
Such a charming entrance to another lovely art shop.
                                                   Charming vignettes

I hope you enjoyed our little tour-there is still lots to see but you know I will be back before summer is over.
I hope you have a great weekend!

Frayed Edge ~ Drop Cloth Curtains

I finally did what many of you have done. I used drop cloths for curtains.

This one is from Lowe's.
I folded the cloth in half and ironed it. Cut along the center and then frayed the cut edges & snipped off the strings. I hung the frayed sides toward the window. I folded the tops down about 10 inches. The seams on each panel are opposite facing because of the way I folded them over but it isn't noticeable.
They sort of blend in with the wall.
(are you thinking what I'm thinking about the carpet?)
Those window panels were so easy!
They even match my linen color sofa on the opposite wall.
(How about I do something to that light fixture?)

Balcony Views

Good Morning!
I am sitting up here on our balcony having my morning smoothie.

It is such a lovely day.

The balcony is off our bedroom.

                                        Looking over the balcony.

The view over the balcony now.
These dahlia's spend the winter in our basement right in the pot and in the spring leaf out                  again and bloom every summer -easy!
A bouquet of garden roses brighten the table.

I am joining My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday.

Hope you have a lovely day!

20th Anniversary...

Twenty years ago I married the love of my life.
We met in high school and quickly fell in love.
We dreamed of a future together.....kids, a home and lots of happiness.
Marriage is full of ups and downs. This guy and I have been through many happy times, but some super hard stuff, too.
We have a ball raising these two boys together.
We are lucky to have them.
I still love this sweet husband of mine.
Happy Anniversary to us!

Our Late August Garden

                                                  Hello everyone!
I can hardly believe it is already late in August and the garden will soon be winding down as we               move into autumn. We have had a dry summer this year-especially August and some of the                  plants, especially the hydrangeas are getting a little droopy. However, if we just take a quick tour
around hopefully you will just see the beauty!
These photos were all taken last week so you can see there is still
                             lots of color.
The phlox and hydrangeas are the main show in our garden now-
it's a good thing we have lots!
Laura-a pretty dark mauve and white phlox
                             that is pretty mildew resistant.
Love the color combo here. It was a windy day so the pic is a bit fuzzy.
                                                   Sun and shadow.
                                                     A garden vignette.
The annebelle hydrangeas are still doing well.
I remember just a couple of months ago this arbor was looking naked. The                                          virginia creeper really covers it now.
A bright pink tablecloth(really an old sheet) and a big bouquet adds a pop of color in                           the outdoor terrace/gazebo.

The phlox and limelight hydrangea at the bed by the road are still doing well.
The arbor that Andrew built several years ago has aged in nicely.

Another pretty phlox blooming in the garden now but I have forgotten the name of it.

Well,we didn't get all the way around the garden yet but I will show you more later.

Thank you for coming along with me.

                    Take care,
                             Carolyn
