This set of horse canvases are one of my favorite wall art for our home. After hanging them in the family room where the walls are painted a pale BM-Carrington Beige, they didn't "pop".
Not wanting to make separate frames, this scrap wood was used to frame out the light art in a ladder form.
Hang the art first then find some scraps of wood that you should have in your garage because if you are like me, we hold on to all our left over wood scraps. This particular set of wood is already dark stained because it comes from Ben's loft bed that we took apart.
Level the side slats first and nail them right to the wall along side the pictures.
Cut a few slats that can fit horizontally at the bottom (which I made extra thick with two pieces). The middle (they don't have to touch or support the canvas). Then the top (I made mine thin).
The tops don't have to line up and the wood can even be different. I like the look.
Some of the best designs come by accident or unplanned - at my house.
Now they "pop" even though they don't play center stage in this refreshed family room.
