Shabby Baby Girl Dresser

I just finished a dresser/changing table for a little baby girl ...

(it's my friend having the baby and she just arrived today)

I'm going to show you how I got this look step by step.



Here is what I started with:

(a "hand-me-down" from the brothers)

I sanded it all down with 120 grit sand paper and my orbital hand sander.

To get rid of all the dust - I like to use my air compressor and this gadget...

The air blows into these little grooves.  Then I use a tack cloth.

Now for the details...



I will be using cut outs from my Cricut to add a few butterflies and hearts.

(You'll see why in the room reveal)

So I spray the area that I am going to add details to with the contrasting color.

In this case it's a pale pink.   (except one drawer it gets white first - here's why).

Once all the sticky vinyl designs from my Cricut are all placed then I spray the body color (white) over the whole thing.



I use double cover spray paint every time...works so great.

Once it is all covered in white and completely dry then I start taking off the vinyl.

I used my hand sander and a razor blade to distress this furniture piece because some areas, like the bottom corners, get a more worn look than the little edges on the drawers and doors.

I even used the Vaseline technique to make a few places look "chippy".

After I got it all done I decided to add stripes in the same pink color as the walls in the bedroom.

Once that was dry I removed my blue tape...I did a little touch up and .... that was it.

Baby "C" is going to have a very feminine changing table for her "very girly" bedroom.

The "C" is for Clara.

The hardware was sprayed silver to match the curtain rod in the bedroom.

This room will be a very warm welcome for this special baby girl.
