As we clean up holiday decor - now is a good time to add some simple,
charming details around the house.
#1
Use a thumb tack and ribbon to attach it to the top of the door, frame or wallboard above.
#2
Attach a quaint little hook to a wooden baluster to dangle a small photo frame or wreath.
#3
Dress up plain sides of your cabinet with legs and an iron scroll.
Even use a scroll door mat that comes in rubber.
These legs are a pillar cut down to the height of the cabinet then cut in half. Use liquid nails and screws from the inside to secure it to the cabinet ends.
(this pillar was found in an old barn that was torn down)
#4
Bring in some green!
Plants are good for the air and easy on the eyes. Use garden urns to display them indoors.
#5
You knew I would recommend a vintage door in a visible place in your home. Pantry doors are a great place but I like a basement door to look inviting. An interior french door is an easy upgrade.
#6
Decorate above doors with scrolls, pallet planters, simple word signs....
or a shelf...
#7
Place small family photos in unexpected places -
like the kitchen window...
or wrapped around a glass candle.
#8
Bring in architectural salvage and tilt them along a wall.
They make a great back drop for photos, wreaths or even add hooks to hang coats.
I added a little ledge to this one.
A few charming little details that make a big statement.
