A Touch of Romance

                                                         Hello everyone,
Well, most of the Christmas decor is gone-I had to leave up a few small trees etc. for a few more days (maybe until Old Christmas) so the house wouldn't look so bare but I was in the mood for a romantic look again.
A romantic tea in a sunny corner of our bedroom.
Lace ,pearls, delicate old gloves and a beaded purse.
                                                          An iron angel
                                 Love this cameo jewellery box.

Hope you enjoyed a touch of romance!

I wish you all good health and happiness for the New Year!

See you next year.

The Old Skates

                                                            Hello everyone,
It was stormy here today ,although not as bad as expected unless it intensifies tonight.I can hear the wind howling out there so I am happy to be snug inside.
Anyway,I bought these old skates at a yard sale and I think they might have a story to tell. When I was growing up I looked forward to skating every winter and still like to don my skates for some winter exercise when the pond has good ice for skating(as in not snow covered like it is now).
There is something warm and cosy about plaids this time of the year.
A pair of handknit wool socks will keep your feet warm.

A hot cup of tea for when you come inside. This teacup belonged to my husband's family which has a Scottish background. The Scottish Santa wearing his tartan vest was a gift from my sister in law.

It was a quiet Sunday here as the weather did not permit good travelling but I enjoyed a lazy day.
I am hoping we will have some good skating days coming up in the next couple of months though.

  Thank you for visiting,
 Carolyn

Snow Day!

                                                                     Hello everyone,
We are expecting a big snowstorm here on the Island starting tonight and it is supposed to dump about 25 cm(10 inches) of snow with high winds so we have been to the grocery store and stocked up on supplies and have candles ready in case we lose power. It sounds like tomorrow will be a day to stay inside by the fireside with a good book and hot cocoa!
We already had some snow a couple of days ago when two of our granddaughters were here for the morning so I took some shots of Olivia out in the snow with a new ' snow princess' costume. These are a few of some quick shots that I snapped of her.
Olivia loves pretty things so she was delighted with the Snow Princess costume.
Today, I am joining How Sweet the Sound for Beverly's snow theme day so I went through my old photos for the ones below but it sounds like by tomorrow this will be pretty much what our home and garden will look like.

                                                           Our old garden gate.

The house above is my neighbours and I always love a snow picture of it.

Well, I enjoy a snow day once in awhile when I can stay indoors and snuggle up by the fire but I know not everyone shares my sentiments so remember" this too shall pass" and before long it will be spring!
Stay warm and cosy and visit How Sweet the Sound for more snow pics or pinks for Pink Saturday.

Thank you for visiting,

 Carolyn

Wintery Welcome & Wine

A few weeks ago I picked up a wine box at Costco.
It was all natural wood.

I stained it with dark walnut wood stain.
{shhh - I asked REALLY nicely and got it for free}
Filled it with used wine bottles and white spray painted twigs.
Placed candles in the bottle tops and sprayed faux snow
around the whole display.
{I believe I live too far south to see much real snow}
It's a wintery welcome display to greet our guests.
I need to call the neighbors over for a winter porch wine party.

Winter White

                                                                    Hello everyone,
We had a lovely Christmas here and I hope you did too! We had our family all here for Christmas dinner but yesterday we all(or most all) were invited to my Sister in law's for a lovely buffet dinner. Today was a lazy day so I took a few moments with my camera.
It is a winter white theme today. Speaking of winter white some of Canada is being hit by a big snow storm and it is headed our way. We are supposed to get snow and then rain with winds-sounds messy!
Some simple pinecones decoating the window
I got the beautiful winter white throw with the lace as a Christmas gift.

                                                        Love candlelight in the winter.
I am supposed to going to the movie Anna Karina tonight but I am watching the weather first.Have any of you seen it?

Thank you so much for all your good wishes for the season and all your visits too.

I am joining French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday and My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday.

  Take care,
              Carolyn
