Planter Refresh for Winter

Are your fall planters looking like they have seen better days?

After hurricane Sandy and some really cold nights....
we need to freshen up around here.
These pots are old...only 7 years or so. I want them to still look old but brighter so they stand out more against our tan color house.
So here's what I did:
Then I cleaned them up.
I wanted more "chipped paint" spots so I painted them with black paint.
Then I filled the pots with twigs and pine cones
starting with a vine wreath around the rim.
The twinkle sticks are battery operated and purchased from JoAnn's.
I tied raffia around the wreath and dangled star charms from the bow.
This arrangement should last all winter through.
Looks cute at night.
With natural and artificial twigs I was able to pull off a bright, rustic
& effortless look for my porch.
